Fonterra is a global leader in dairy innovation and the world’s biggest investor in new dairy technology, research and product development. We recognise that innovative products and processes are crucial if we are to meet the evolving needs of our customers as they respond to global consumer trends.
The Fonterra Research Centre in Palmerston North is the world's largest dairy research centre with one of the world's largest registered dairy pilot plants. We employ over a hundred world-class scientists, allowing us to remain on the cutting edge of dairy innovation, manufacture and application.
We also have research and development centres in: Chicago, USA; Melbourne, Australia; and Hamburg, Germany. The locations of these centres allow innovations to be tailored specifically to the needs of our customers operating within specific markets. Customers have the ability to come in, view our processes and taste our products as our technical staff develop cheeses, yoghurt, paediatric formulas, beverages and bars. These centres also make it simpler, faster and more effective to commercialise scientific innovations from the Fonterra Research Centre in New Zealand for our customers in specific markets.
